He takes care of his people like a shepherd.
He gathers them like lambs in his arms and carries them close to him.
He gently leads the mothers of the lambs.

We have a wonderful care system, with a friendship leader for small groups of people in our church community.  In some cases they are already an established group of friends,  with others they may be groups of newcomers ,or maybe they have nothing particularly in common other than their faith.

This isn't an excuse to be nosy.  It is to make sure all our flock are accounted for and cared for.  It is an opportunity to share news about what's going on at church for those unable to attend, or simply to sit and chat.  We look to be there for each other however the individual sees fit, maybe to offer a prayer or to offer something more practical.

Ours is a safe environment - all of our Junior Church staff have undergone the Methodist Church's safeguarding training and are DBS-checked and approved.

The same applies to people within our church community who have been appointed to roles that may require regular interaction with children and vulnerable adults.
